The Odyssey Movie by Nolan : From Epic To Meh

 I watched the Odyssey in my local theatre. It wasn't IMAX and it was totally worth it. Before we dive into the movie, let's understand that the IMAX is simply a different format. For example, there is square format 1:1, 16:9 on YouTube and other variations. IMAX is vertically long format.

However, because it's bigger, more information and quality can be captured. But that doesn't mean anything because if you shrink it - it will fit into any other format and you can get everything that was captured with black spaces. Even if you crop it, you don't lose anything because it was shot like that. Even Nolan knows that the IMAX theatres are limited and everyone will probably see the movie in their normal theatres or phones. So the movie despite being shot in IMAX is kept centrally focused so that no story is missed either way.

Now, coming to the movie, I feel it's an alright movie. Because Nolan had previous epics, this despite being a very good movie, sits at around 8/10 for me. Still a solid.

If you haven't read the Odyssey, you will enjoy it more because the story itself was goosebump worthy, the visual was an addon. If you know the story, it's an alright movie, the tensions aren't as high as it should be. Emotions are okay, some scenes are good. The plot twist for me was the aha moment because I went in knowing nothing about the movie.

The final verdict is that it's an one time watch. No performance stood out as amazing. Decent jobs done, visual is good and the movie is fine. Watch it once but don't go out of the way to spend too much then it won't be worth the watch.

Welcome Back To The Jungle and The Issues With Sequels

 Welcome was a masterpiece. When I first watched it, I laughed, second time, I remembered some of the dialogues and now it is a culture to repeat dialogues. Amazing it was. Then came Welcome back. Bad. However, it was bearable to watch. A failed attempt to somehow make it work. Rehash everything that worked the first time. I never watched it again. I remember the dialogues felt forced and repetitive. What was once a good dialogue, now felt badly placed it. Now, we are watching the third installment, for which there shouldn't have been the second sequel too. But the game of money makes sure the people keep coming back to the theatres. Dhurandhar Review

 When you think of a spy action film, you might think of Jawan or Pathan. But those are stylised and forgettable films. They work only on the stardom of the actors. But in Dhurandhar, there is substance, story and also the acting. All the ensemble cast are good, but three people who did a fantastic job are Akshay Khanna, Rakesh Bedi and Danish. You know you are the best actor in the movie when your scene is with Ranveer Singh in almost every frame, yet people don't notice the supposed star. You steal the spotlight and how. Rakesh Bedi has always been a performative actor, and he has been thoroughly utilised in this movie to the best of his capabilities. Danish comes as a surprise. I suspect the future is bright for him. Because he has got the charisma and the acting chops to take it forward.
